When you are in the throes of your addiction or are feeling triggered to break your sobriety, a phone call with someone who can relate can be the difference between going forwards or backwards. Sadly when you are down, you tend to withdraw and sometimes even if you do gain the courage to make the call, you get a voicemail. That is why the Crisis Call is available . The ADAP is designed for those moments when addicts need help the most: when they are in crisis. ADAP Users can open the app and choose the Crisis Call button. Then based on the questions they answered when they set up their profile, only people within their specific mo. group will be notified who have said they are currently available to chat. An alert will go out to everyone within the group (unless upon initial setup you chose whom the app should alert e.g. gender age proximity...) whoever is available to talk hits a button, then the person in crisis can see within a few minutes all the people who hit the button. The user will get a list generated by their preferences in the setup (i.e. gender, age, proximity, friends only, friends first then others, time frame of how long you want to wait for a response, response only after X number of people have said they are available). Users then click on the profile of the selected person they wish to speak to, then both of their phones will ring and they will be connected to one another, without any personal information being disclosed. Once the call is over, they can decide if they want to be friends and add one another to their friend list. If there is a crisis in the future, that list of friends can be notified first on behalf of the user.

Since the ADAP app uses special background service for its intended purposes, such as: VoIP, location, local notifications, etc. For this, the ADAP app would need to run the GPS in the users device and Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
